Infy to create 1,200 jobs in Australia

Tech major Infosys has launched an initiative to accelerate digital leadership for its clients in Australia and shrink the digital skills gap in the region with the creation of 1,200 jobs and the opening of three Innovation Hubs by 2020.

Australia’s minister for industry, science and technology, Karen Andrews joined Infosys’ senior vice president for Australia and New Zealand, Andrew Groth at company’s North Sydney office to announce a broad range of initiatives.

Flipkart change upsets surface calm

The exit of Flipkart co-founder and group CEO Binny Bansal on November 13,  just six months after inking the deal with Flipkart, came as a big shocker to over 30,000 employees at Flipkart and all players in the startup ecosystem.


Something is not quite right at the country’s e-com rockstar, Flipkart, after it hit a $16 billion Walmart jackpot in May this year.

If sheer data is anything to go by, over 6,500 employees of Flipkart and its subsidiaries, including Myntra, Jabong, PhonePe and Ekart, are actively job hunting on the country’s top notch career site, That means, more than 20 per cent of the company’s total employees -- over 30,000 -- are exploring career prospects outside Flipkart.

Did Walmart use an old allegation of ‘personal misconduct,’ which had already been settled, to ease Binny Bansal (in pic) out of the current setup just six months after the Flipkart co-founder drove a hard bargain to sell 77 per cent stake to the American retail giant at $16 billion in May?

Or the US company followed the business ethics code too harshly despite the fact that business culture in its new domain was much different from the US and other regions it is operating in at present?

Intel sets up Rs 1,100 crore design centre in Bangalore

The US microchip major Intel has set up its latest state-of-the-art design house in Bangalore at an investment of Rs 1,100 crore.

Extending Intel’s R&D pr­e­sence in India, it will house technologists who work on cutting-edge engineering across hardware and software.

The design facility was inaugurated by Manoj Sinha, minister of state (IC) for communications and minister of state for railways and Bob Swan, CFO and interim CEO of Intel Corporation.
