Naomi Watts cast as lead in Game of Thrones prequel

HBO on Wednesday announced that two-time Oscar-nominated actor Naomi Watts will be headlining the cast of a prequel to its hit series Game of Thrones.

Watts, 50, is the first A-lister to join the prequel show and will be playing a "charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret". According to the network, the new show will be set thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones.

Dev Patel to make directorial debut

British-Indian actor Dev Patel is set to take up direction with revenge thriller "Monkey Man".

According to Variety, the "Lion" star will also act in the film, which is being presented to buyers at this year's American Film Market.

The plot of the film revolves around the Kid (Patel), who emerges from prison to fight off a world marred by “corporate greed and eroding spiritual values”.

Set in modern-day India, the movie will also be layered in mythology. Other plot details are sparse when the project was announced.

SRK soon to start filming for Rakesh Sharma biopic

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan will start working on astronaut Rakesh Sharma’s biopic early next year, producer Ronnie Screwvala said. With script written by Anjum Rajabali, the film will be directed by Mahesh Mathai and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Screwvala under their banners Roy Kapur Films and RSVP Films, respectively.

There were reports that Bhumi Pednekar has been signed opposite Shah Rukh in the film, reportedly titled Saare Jahaan Se Achcha but Ronnie said an official announcement will be made soon.

Justin Timberlake reschedules NYC concert due to ‘severely bruised' vocal cords

Actor-singer Justin Timberlake has postponed his performance at New York City due to "severely bruised" vocal cords.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the 37-year-old musician said his doctors advised him to reschedule his Madison Square Garden concert.

“Hey guys, I’m sorry to announce I have to postpone the show at MSG tonight on doctor’s orders. My vocal cords are severely bruised.

I’m gonna make this up to you and the new show will be on my birthday, January 31. More info to come. Again, I'm so sorry to do this, but excited to see you soon,” he wrote.

LS polls: Dhoni, Gambhir likely to contest on BJP ticket

Ruling party BJP is in talks with Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir to rope them in as their star campaigners for the 2019 elections. Dhoni and Gambhir may likely contest from their respective states, say media reports.

While Gambhir’s name has been linked with the BJP for a while, Dhoni’s name has come up as a surprise. According to the media, BJP is in talks with Dhoni for contesting polls from Jharkhand.

While Dhoni is a regular in India’s ODI and T20 international teams, Gambhir last played for India in November 2016.
