Govt in talks with Singapore for cruise connectivity: Gadkari

Keen on promoting cruise tourism on a mega scale, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today said talks are on with Singapore for cruise connectivity.

India has huge potential for cruise tourism and efforts in this direction could boost it from 80 ship per annum to 900, the shipping minister said.

"The cruises from India could go to Singapore, Philipines and Thailand and the projects will be developed on PPP (public private partnership) mode," the minister said on the sidelines of an event.

Panama: ED seizes assets linked to former IPL chairman

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today said it has seized mutual funds valued at Rs 10.35 crore under the FEMA law of a company "controlled" by businessman and former IPL Chairman Chirayu Amin in the Panama Papers case.

The central probe agency said it seized mutual funds of Whitefield Chemtech Private Limited, "which is controlled by Amin and his family", under section 37A of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

BJP MP from Maharashtra Nana Patole, a critic of the central and state governments’ handling of farmers issues, on Friday resigned from the party and the Lok Sabha, accusing the saffron party of failing to keep the promises it made to the people.

Announcing his decision, he told reporters that he would join Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi at a rally in Ahmedabad on December 11. People, he alleged, are “dying” due to the BJP governments’ policies, a reference to farmers’ suicide, and that his voice was being “stifled”.

Delhi govt cancels licence of Max Hospital

The Delhi government on Friday cancelled the licence of Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh with immediate effect, for alleged medical negligence including the twins case in which one of the babies was found alive after being declared dead by the doctors.

The move came after a three-member inquiry panel of the government submitted its final report to Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who described the incident as “not acceptable”.

China cries drone ‘intrusion’; Sikkim hots up again
