Sensex retreats from lifetime high, ends 68 points lower; Nifty above 12K

After scaling its record intra-day high of 41,120.28, the 30-share BSE Sensex settled 67.93 points, or 0.17 per cent, lower at 40,821.30.

Top gainers in the Sensex pack included Yes Bank which rose up to 1.57 per cent, Tata Steel 1.54 per cent, Sun Pharma 1.45 per cent, ICICI Bank 1.48 per cent, Infosys 1.10 per cent and RIL 0.76 per cent. (Photo: File)

The 30-share Sensex was trading 218.82 points, or 0.54 per cent, higher at 41,108.05.

Sensex scales new high, soars 530 points; Nifty closes above 12,050

After touching its record intra-day high of 40,931.71, Sensex ended 529.82 points, or 1.31 per cent, higher at 40,889.23.

Top gainers in the Sensex pack included Tata Steel which rose up to 2.48 per cent, Bharti Airtel 2.30 per cent, Infosys 1.33 per cent, Sun Pharma 1.55 per cent, Vedanta 1.27 per cent and RIL 0.82 per cent.

The 30-share Sensex was trading 213.78 points, or 0.53 per cent, higher at 40,573.19.
