In the international market, gold was trading at USD 1,464.8 per ounce, while silver was quoting at USD 16.62 per ounce.
However, silver prices rose Rs 46 to Rs 44,691 per kg from Rs 44,645 per kg in the previous trade.
Gold is trading at Rs 38,895 per 10 gram in the national capital, according to HDFC Securities.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for February next year traded higher by Rs 83, or 0.22 per cent, at Rs 38,410 per 10 gram.
