PUNE: GKN Aerospace, the UK-based and London stock exchange listed 3.5 billion pound multi-technology tier 1 aerospace supplier, is opening a new factory in Pune on Wednesday to manufacture electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS).

The company is investing Rs 154 crore for now. The new facility, aimed at both the local and global markets, would directly employ 800 skilled operators and engineers.

“We are investing Rs 72 crore in the new factory," Michiel Barenose, VP and MD, Aerostructures and Systems Europe and Asia at GKN Aerospace told FC. He said an additional Rs 72 crore would be invested over 10 years .
