Karnataka Industries Minister R V Deshpande today said many companies including Ola Cab have shown interest in investing in the electric vehicle project in the state.
"The state government is formulating a policy addressing the issues pertaining to e-vehicle. To seek stakeholders suggestions, we had invited them for a meeting recently. Ola's Bhavish Aggarwal and others, have shown interest in investing in e-vehicle project in Karnataka," Deshpande told PTI here.
Ola already has launched its e-vehicle project at Nagpur in Maharashtra, Deshpande said.
Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, India's multi-national car manufacturing corporation, also had participated in the meeting, he said.
Deshpande, however, did not reveal the size of the investment Ola Cab is making in the state to expand its e-vehicle services in Karnataka.
Deshpande said Aggarwal also gave suggestions on building infrastructure to cater to Ola's e-vehicle fleet.
With an eye on promoting eco-friendly transport, the government will be ready with its electric vehicle policy soon, he said.
Accelerated adoption of electric and shared vehicles could save diesel and petrol costs and cut down carbon emission, Deshpande said.
