Govt on several occasions has given clarifications to reduce ambiguities and make the process smooth and easy.

The total gross GST revenue collected in the month of September, 2019 is Rs 91,916 crore, of which CGST is Rs 16,630 crore, SGST is Rs 22,598 crore, IGST is Rs 45,069 crore, including Rs 22,097 crore collected on imports and cess is Rs 7,620 crore, including Rs 728 crore collected on imports.

The revenue during September 2019 declined by 2.67 per cent in comparison to the revenue during September 2018.

The changes would ensure that indirect taxation-related matter would have greater simplicity and be effective, said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The government would also be bringing changes to seven laws related to direct taxes.

The Government had budgeted to collect Rs 11.50 lakh crore from direct taxes and Rs 7.43 lakh crore from GST in 2018-19.

In 2018-19, direct taxes grew by 13.4 per cent owing to improved performance of corporate tax.
