Passenger vehicles' production last month stood at 1,39,084 units as against 1,34,149 units in November 2018, an increase of 3.67 per cent, Maruti Suzuki India said  in a regulatory filing.

The company produced a total of 1,41,834 units in November as against 1,35,946 units in the year-ago month, MSI said.

Sales of compact segment, including models such as Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire, rose 7.6 per cent at 78,013 units as against 72,533 cars in November last year.

The company had sold 1,53,539 units in November last year, Maruti Suzuki said in a statement.

Passenger vehicles' production last month stood at 1,17,383 units as against 1,48,318 units in October 2018, a decline of 20.85 per cent, it added.

MSTI will set up its vehicle dismantling and recycling unit in Noida, Uttar Pradesh within 2020-21.

Net sales in the period under review stood at 847.9 billion yen as against 941.9 billion yen in the year-ago period.

We are cautiously optimistic. The reason why we are cautious is that we do not have a crystal ball. Many of the factors like high cost of acquisition, confusion related to BS-IV and BS-VI, issues related to finance norms and liquidity etc, continue to be there, said MSI Executive Director (Marketing & Sales) Shashank Srivastava.

Maruti Suzuki said it would take at least few more months to get clarity if the industry is finally on a revival path.

Despite being in the negative territory, Mahindra & Mahindra managed to arrest decline in sales, posting 11 per cent dip at 49,193 units last month as compared to 55,350 units in October 2018.

This is the first time in the last seven months that Maruti Suzuki has seen an increase in its domestic sales.

Sales of compact segment, including models such as Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire, grew 15.9 per cent to 75,094 units as against 64,789 units in October last year.

The company had sold 1,46,766 units in October last year, MSI said in a statement.

Domestic sales declined by 26.7 per cent at 1,12,500 units last month as against 1,53,550 units in September 2018, Maruti Suzuki India added.
